Woh-Wah

Wooohhh-Waahh????

This is the adorable (to us) word that Noah has been repeating intermittently since last Friday night. We can't get enough of it! He's calling for Lola, the boxer who belongs to our very good friends, Kristen & Clay M.

We went to their house for dinner last Friday, squeezing in one last visit before Kristen gives birth to her son Will any day now. When we arrived, Noah was at once charmed—and terrified—of Lola. He would follow Lola around, and then run from her with a panicked face when she would giddily discover her ultra-small stalker.

Lola is not a puppy anymore, but she still has the energy and lovable looks of one. Noah is used to tiny dogs—his sitter has two dachshunds—so he was taken aback by Lola's bigger stature (even though she's small for a boxer) and her zeal. But once he got past this new version of "doggie!," I think he was hooked. He wandered around the M's house all night calling for her, even pressing his face against their patio door each time Lola went outside.

What's fascinating to me is that "Lola" is the first name outside of "Mommy" & "Daddy" that Noah has spoken. This makes me realize that eventually, we'll probably need to get another dog, given Noah's obvious love of them. Not now, though, eventually...

In the meantime, we'll just have to go visit the M's and (and Will!), so Noah can get his fix of Woh-Wah.
