Mrs. Wilson reminded me that I left out a crucial part of the roses story.
After I got over the shock of all those dozens of carefully positioned roses, I scooped them up and arranged them in all the vases and tall glasses I had. And when they'd run their course, I hung them all upside-down to dry.
I saved every last petal from that occasion, and then I saved every petal of every flower David gave me in the next 9 months. I combined all those petals, and then divvied them up in about 50–100 paper cones.
When David and I exited my hometown church in our wedding garb, we were showered in those lovely petals—a very poignant and pleasant reminder of our happy beginnings.
Look at those petals fly!
