My family has deep roots in Ohio. That alone is reason enough for us to be die-hard Ohio State Buckeye fans. But our love affair with this particular nut goes back to my Grandpa Titus in the 1930s. He attended Ohio State and, yes, he was even in The Best Damn Band In the Land. Even better—he played the tuba! (Script Ohio fans, you know where I'm going with this).
If I recall the family lore correctly, he never got a chance to dot the "I" in Script Ohio, but he surely did get to play in one of the most famous bands in the nation.
He was the one who instilled in my family a healthy obsession with all things Buckeye, but it was my uncle and cousins who took things one step further this year with their phenomenal, custom-built tailgating trailer, which, quite frankly, rocks.
Noah and I made a visit there for the Indiana pre-game hoopla in October, and you could easily see how this trailer was tailor-made for fans of all ages. There's bar seating all around the edges and a frosty keg for the of-age crew. For younger fans, a comfy couch beckons for coloring, lounging and entertaining. A password-protected bathroom keeps the riffraff out, and a huge grill keeps the masses fed (and sober-ish!).

Not your average Buckeye fans
When you tailgate, throwing the pigskin around is a must. Tommy took on Noah and won, despite what this shot portrays.
Gotta have a TV to watch the game, and a bathroom too!
Noah finds the steps to be a comfy venue.
Tommy & Uncle Tom appear to mix in philosophical discussions with their tailgating.
Trish & Alex show their Buckeye pride.
Another view.
A wing of the trailer—good for overflow and for socializing.
Big-kid party in the back; little-kid party in the front.
It's a hard life, tailgating.
Cookies!
Noah bellied up to the bar for a Capri Sun.
The girls take over the coffee table.
Alex & Noah make masterpieces.
