Boo at the Zoo

I just confirmed it: "Boo at the Zoo" is the best time to visit the Columbus Zoo. When we rolled in on Halloween day this Saturday with Noah dressed head to toe in Chicken Little garb, the crowd was light, the treat stations were open, and most of the animals hadn't flown south for the winter.

And the kids in costume were beyond adorable. Hands-down my favorites were those babes, toddlers and tweenagers in animal ensembles, resembling the attractions they were there to see!

I stole a picture with Noah while David got us some hot chocolate.


And then I returned the favor in "North America" a bit later.


I found it ironic that we came to a nationally renowned zoo with hundreds of exotic animals, and the goats in the petting zoo still held major appeal.


We didn't see any live polar bears, but this one made a great mountain on which to climb and make a silly face for the camera.


We had to get this little ditty on film. Noah was enamored with the bobcat. He's really going through a kitty phase right now (complete with intimidating babysitter hissing kitties and a neighbor's loving/scratching kitty...and our two nice kitties, of course). He ran back and forth with that bobcat, laughing and giggling the whole way.

Here's my zoo favorite: the manatees.


On the way home from the zoo, we decided to surprise my coworkers with a trick-or-treat visit. We stopped at Michelle's house first, and then stopped in to see Amy. Here's Michelle, handing Noah some goodies.


Our mini man was so exhausted from the day that by the time we left Amy's house, he wasn't interested in trick-or-treating anymore... candy and all. He was ready to go home and get "something else" (aka real food). Remarkable!
